4am forever...

Been quite a busy weekend really, started at 4:30am on Saturday morning with a 98 mille drive to a disused airfield in Manby (Lincolnshire) for the Bill Cammack Memorial Trophy Rally 2010, was a gloriously sunny day and the event rather extremely well even with huge patches of ice everywhere (it was -3 celsius when we got there!)
By the time we got home, warmed up and had dinner it was getting late, and there were over 1100 rally images to be processed (and my 365 flickr project to do), so was a bit of a late Saturday night... Then up again and finished processing the images on Sunday, the image gallery is here

Alter Ego

There's a group on flickr called Theme of the Week who (funnily enough) set weekly themed challenges, last weeks challenge was "Alter Ego", it was the first time I've entered the challenge and you know what, I only bloody well won it!!!
If you've got a flickr account and don't mind being on the wrong side of the camera I really suggest checking them out, a really friendly bunch with good feedback.

Riponian Rally

Well the 2010 rally season has officially started for Team MPPIX with three of us braving the surprise wintry conditions in the forests around Thirsk and Helmsley. Me and Sarah set off from Leeds after defrosting the car to find snow halfway up Sutton Bank! Met up with Kevin and Trish in Helmsley before heading off into Roppa forest (parked somewhere near J10), the forest drive was pretty white, deep and a bit freaking hairy in places (hairy like scary, not like a Bee Gees chest piece!)

Was greeted with a “You’re here early” from a friendly marshal who braved getting out of a hot car to stand in the cold and chat to us, then off we walked into the snow, just like the England to Narnia 2010 rally….

Have to say that this event was really great fun, all ran to schedule, everyone was chatty, infact you could just sense that everyone was happy to be out in the woods again being able to watch some pretty amazing driving in rather varied conditions.

Spent the afternoon stage in one of the designated spectator areas, which offered a fantastic view down hill into oncoming traffic and to be fair is one of the best viewing spots I’ve seen in a while.

Howdy

Howdy and welcome to the first post in my blog. After taking what now seems far too long out of the photography game I am now ready to roll up my sleeves and get my hands dirty again – getting back into the journalistic hustle of motorsport photography and generally getting whatever work I can.

I’ve got my site (marksayer.com) pointing to this blogger as my current hosting doesn’t support Wordpress, but I’ll get around to moving suppliers and probably set a blog up on my own server.. in the meantime I’ll keep it all here and start adding links to my galleries as I am building them up.

My main projects at the moment are my Motorsport site MPPIX Photography, and I am also tinkering with a 365 project on my FLICKR account.

I’m always looking for new challenges, if you are in the North of England and need a photographer then give me a shout!!
